If you care and wonder why I keep dating my blog posts as the title, part of it is I’m not feeling as creative in my titles these days. The other part is that with all of the drama going on these days, it’s a lot easier to use the dates in different places to keep all of it straight.
Been one of those quiet days, so far, (knock on wood) so I have been working on some of my coding skills. I rewrote the personal site that surrounds this in HTML 5. I know there are quite a few people who don’t believe that it is ready for prime time. I can say, the only drawback is that it looks horrendous in IE. But since I don’t really care for IE anyway, I’ll make the sacrifice. Most people who are going to read this are already using Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or Safari anyway.
I took away a valuable insight doing this. I found the first time I tried to code it, I wrote the CSS first and then wrote the HTML. That didn’t work. Something broke and broke badly. I still can’t tell you where it broke or how, but it was frightening. I began to think I was writing my code all wrong. So, this morning, I reversed the concept and wrote the HTML first and the CSS last. This way, I knew my mark-up was solid and then I could “engineer” the CSS into place if I needed to. Well, slow and steady wins the race and this approach was perfect. I found everything falling into place and what you have for the rest of the site, is the fruit of my labour. It doesn’t hurt that I used a different JQuery nav bar and used its CSS on its own.
Well, the rest of the news. There is way too much drama in my life right now. Watched housing problems through a court web site and am still waiting for the fall out all over the place on that. Looking at what I need to do to get my own place for the family. I’m tired of the mess and the drama with all this crap.
I know I have to call my sister and I need to email the list. I also need to check on a couple of friends to ensure they are ok. They’ve been quiet and I worry about them.
