Near where I work, there is an abandoned house which now has a tree laying on part of its roof. The look, and I should get a picture soon, is an appropriate metaphor for this week. It shows you the best parts of itself while it seems to be falling apart at the seams.

There have been so many things about which I could write this week. Let it suffice to say I am very thankful for its end. If you start the week with the inauguration and that whole day, there are ups and downs galore.

Tuesday the 20th marked the 43rd transfer of civilian authority in nearly 233 years. While some of these have been marked by tragedy, it is still amazing that we’ve done this many without a coup d’etat. This fact alone, be a person conservative or liberal, merits celebration and praise. The fact he originates from a bi-racial family is equally impressive given America’s recent history. However, I also believe that may are placing too much pressure upon this man at this time to change everything. There has been a lot of bad done over the last eight years and it will take more than a few gestures to right all of those wrongs.

Tuesday also marked a day I was to go back to court and address my ex’s desire to return to unsupervised custody as well as wrest custody from me on baseless charges that my current spouse is physically and emotionally abusing my son. Well, since that was debunked by social services, it didn’t look really good for her. However, her attorney stopped all of us short by trying to have him declared endangered and removed from both homes. This comes on the heels of new abuse allegations against my ex. Again, delivered by Ricky and not to me. I’m glad he’s talking to someone, but with the newest allegations, it seems like anything could happen. I just want the best for him and to heal. It appears her actions are the last desperate acts of the damned.

Personally, I can’t fathom ever realizing my dad’s dream of my becoming a lawyer. I get too nervous at the thought of going into a court room. Of course, that is likely because I am not a lawyer and don’t feel comfortable in their world. The remainder of the week saw me feeling ill and playing catch up. More trying to get all of the databases over, the users entered, and now back to moving files and doing file diffs to see what I’m missing.

Fun……
