Hmmm, you’re right my friends, you don’t normally see me discussing politics. I tend to shy away from it in this venue. However, I’ve been listening to more and more come out about the Govenor Sarah Palin and everyone keeps discussing how the McCain campaign didn’t vet her properly to uncover all of the things we’re finding. She supported the Bridge before it became unpopular, she kept the earmark money and spent it elsewhere. (Seriously, how many governors would give it back anyway?), she is under an bipartisan supported ethics investigation, etc. Well the latest was how she has a tanning bed in the governor’s mansion. Well, she does like to be the hockey mom everyone wants to hang out with. Some conservative talk show hosts have even suggested it’s therapeutic, to stave off seasonal depression due to lack of sun exposure. Well, since that’s a form of clinical depression, it brought back shades of Thomas Eagleton.

I tend to be a cynic when it comes to politics and I believe she was completely vetted by the campaign with a different agenda. They want her to fail. McCain really wanted a different person for the VP nomination, Joe Lieberman. However, he knew he couldn’t get it to fly pass the conservative base, so he chose one of their darlings, but he ensured he got one with enough problems to sink the nomination. In doing so, they are going to be energized and happy, until enough stuff comes out that she’s an albatross. Then he gets to dump her, pick ol’ Joe, and tout his “maverick” stauts even louder for selecting a member of the Democratic caucus to be his running mate. Now he’s “truly bi-partisan” and reaching across the aisle to “better America”.

Ok, again, I’m a cynic, but I see this happening as an inexorable march to the end.

Prove me wrong……
